Hi all,

New to ducks - ducklings on the way!

I'm in process of building the run. It is 8x16 and completely enclosed in hardware cloth. Half the roof will be clear panels, half will just be hardware cloth. I'm trying to figure out what to do with the house. First, for 3 ducks, (welsh harlequin and swedish) how large does it need to be? I was thinking 4x3? What about the height? Am I completely over thinking this?
I understand most people say they don't go in a house almost ever anyway, but in New England it can get cold and I assume they need a shelter to go into once in a while.

Any help is greatly appreciated!

If your pen is completely predator safe you wouldn't have to do a walk in shelter(unless you wanted too) because they could come/go as they please, my ducks free range and have no pen, so my main duck housing is walk-in.

Often when large pens are created dog houses are used... i am not sure what size those breeds are fully grown, but my scovies would fit decently in a 4x4 overnight.. 3-4 of them...

Their is a thread on housing, i'll see if i can find it.

Thanks GQ - like I said I'm most likely overthinking it all. I'll put something together and see if they use it
