Lost one of my 2 pekin ducks last night 😔. I now realize she was silently choking. Dumb me didn't know and encouraged water since I hadn't seen her drinking and she was looking weak. Pretty sure that finished her off. 😭. Has anyone else experience this? I now know about the tip forward method for clearing their throats. Problem now is I am left with a single duck 😔

I am so sorry for your loss, it sounds like something you didn't have any control over, just a very unfortunate situation. Your other duck will be very sad and lonely without its friend so it would be a good idea to look for some ducks for sale on your local Craigslist.

If the duck got something stuck in it's trachea, there would have been little you could have done for the duck. It does happen occasionally to them. If the duck had something stuck in it's throat, water should have helped unless it was something they can't break down and caused a blockage. It sounds like your duck got something stuck in it's trachea.

I am sorry for your loss. I hope you are able to find your duck a new friend. If it is a young duckling, you can give it a stuffed animal to keep it company. Also a mirror makes it think there is another duck there.
