I have a 3 month old rescue duck which I raised from a day old. I released him into a rearby pond about two weeks ago. Today when I went to check on him I noticed that he was limping. The limp was pretty bad so I brought him home with me to discourage him from moving too much. He ate and drank quite a bit when I got him home, now he is spitting up clear liquid which is slightly mucusy. Should I be concerned? Did he just drink too much water too fast? Thanks for your responses.

He was probably quite hungry and thirsty, and you are probably right about that.

About the limp. Is it bumblefoot or another type of injury?

I don't know the whole story, but if you raised the duck as a domestic, then released it to the wild with no one to care for it, it does not have much of a chance of survival. Can you take it back in and care for it or find it a caring home?

It sounds like it is suffering out there.

Thanks for checking in here.
