Duck waterer for electrolyte water only that can be used in winter

I bought this year round watered after being told ducks can use it too. Is this true? I know they need a water source they can dunk their heads into but I am worried on how to keep something like that from freezing in the winter. Maybe I can use this for drinking water (with electrolytes)? Will it work or should I just return it and find a way to make a larger waterer that won’t freeze?

i use a heated dog dish that i cover half of it so they cant swim in it. i havent really found a better way yet.

Return it! They will empty that and make a big mess. A heated dog bowl works great!

Heated buckets too and I place a piece of wood in the middle to keep mine from climbing into them. I have 21 waterfowl they would empty a heated dog bowl in about 10 minutes or less.
