Duckbill scrape or peel?

I went outside this morning and saw that my drake has what looks like an injury on his bill.
I thought maybe he had scraped it on the bottom of the coop where the hardware cloth meets the ground.
But I looked around and didn't see a disturbance.
Could this peeling back be a sign of something else?

:lol:Runners as they age revert back to white if any color but white. My blue runner is mostly white and my black ones looks just like @Enigmius Runners. Only one that hasn’t changed in coloring is my silver or maybe she has but it just doesn’t show.
