well i got home and somehow my 3 week old duckling jumped into he little kiddie pool and when i got home he was barely staying above the water...he is breathly badly and i think he has water in his lungs and his gizzard feels like it is full of water...so far i have taken him out of the water and put him under a heat lamp...he keeps shaking and trying to stand...i dont know what else to do....PLEASE HELP SO I CAN HELP HIM!!!

If it's got water in it's lungs, maybe you could hold it upside down an give a gentle squeeze expel water from it's lungs. Don't know it it would work - but what have you got to loose at this point... sorry I couldn't be more help.

I would do what the about poster told by holding the duckling upside down. When he's upside down you can then swing him from side to side. That will help the water pull down.

I feel for you. I came home one day to find 4 of my ducklings drowned and 1 one on it's way out. I was totally full of guilt

He is doing great...i blow dryed him and i kept him in the house overnight to make sure he would be ok and he is still in the house and is doing great...in fact he is getting annoying cause he wont be quiet....

o and thankyou everyone for your help...

by the way his name is Demi....

Hubby did the same thing to a duckling that was overexposed to all the rain last week. He blowdried him and then put him in the brooder with the chicks and he got all better.
