Hi all!!!
First time duck owner here.
We bought 5 pekin ducklings from cal ranch here in Cedar City Utah, very healthy!! They are about 6 weeks now, they are feathered out pretty good but do you think from picture they can stay outside during the day in their fenced in pin where they can go into their shed if they want to but that’s another question? Once they are out they don’t want to go back inside, it’s still chilly here in Cedar City 50 , 60, still have a heat lamp for them, I worry about them getting too cold outside, so what do you think? They seem scared of us and we have handled them a lot?? Is that just their normal behavior?? Thanks so much!!!

They look pretty close to being fully feathered so they should be able to handle those temps . They shouldn’t even need heat at their age. For night time I’d make them go inside and close the door . That way you know they aren’t in the elements and they are safe. As for being scared that is normal they all go through the axe murder stage. just keep spending time with them just sitting with them they will eventually get over that especially if when you sit out you offer treats.
