ok, my guys are almost 3 weeks old, i've read that at 3 weeks to drop the protein feed down to 16%, is this the regular poultry feed? or unmedicated chick feed? all of the game bird diet i've found is high in protein...

Maybe check the precentage in layer pellets? Or add something with less protein, like rolled oats to the current feed to drop that percentage down. Hope this helps.

I would not give them layer feed at that age. You can use something like Flock Raiser which is 20% protein and just add some oats (or potentially a different grain) if you can't find duck grower or maintenance. A lot of people do use Gamebird feed as well, even though it has a little more protein. Of course, you could also leave them on chick feed until they are mature as well.

i think i'll do that, the flock raiser and oats- this feed i tried them on is making them have solid stools, which i don't think is a good thing... so off to the feed store today

Depends what chick feed you get. The DuMor chick starter comes in 20% and 24%. Purina start & grow is 18%. Layer feeds are usually 16%. DuMor has a finisher that is 15%....I was considering getting that one. Check the bag, it should be listed on there.
