Duckling has red spot when bathing

My duckling is about four weeks old and he has been getting this red/brownish patch (pics included) when he is bathing, seems to go away after he’s dried off. I read it might be from starting to lose his baby fuzz and he doesn’t seem to have any issues moving what so ever when he is bathing but figured I should see if anyone has any other opinions.

What a cutie! If the spot's not angry/weepy or causing the duckling discomfort, it may - as you thought - just be where down rubbed off as feathers begin to come in. Waterfowl may be quite itchy during the transition - my goslings rub their necks on hands or whatever's nearby to help remove the down. I'd just keep an eye on it at this point. They grow fast at this age.
