Ducklings and sand?

So I ran out of chick grit, and I wasn't sure what to offer in the place of grit, and until I'm able to get more grit, i offered a bit of play sand (has a bit of small gravel in it) I'm slightly worried about it causing impaction.. they have access to water all day and night. They are almost 5 weeks old. Will they be okay with having a bit of sand temporarily as grit?

Play sand is too fine and in return will often cause an impaction in the gizzard or further down the track, you'd be better off without just stop feeding treats for a while.

Something yes, I don't yet have an enclosure built for them yet

Okay, I don't give treats often because I know it should only be 10% of their diet.

If they are spending time outside digging and drilling in the mud and dirt they probably don't need any grit.
