So I am currently coop shopping, my current one is getting old. I was thinking of buying this one coop that can house 6-8 chickens. I am considering getting two ducks to add to my flock. If I have 4 chickens, ( two are bantam, the other 2 are standard) do I have room in that coop for 2 ducks?

Can you maybe enclose the coop in a fenced in area? That way, you could get a dog house or something for the ducks. I know that ducks take up to two to three times as much room as chickens when it comes to the coop, but I also don't have bantams so I dont know their space requirements. Maybe they'd even out?

I just know that my ducks are messy as anything and my chickens are completely embarrassed to be seen with them.

Sorry, I thought you were going to post a pic of the coop you are considering.
Ducks are much more messier than chickens. Ducks don't need more space persay, but it depends on the type of ducks you get as to how much room they need.
Ducks do not go to roost like chickens. In fact, I am about to head out to round my ducks up for bed.
My ducks and chickens have their own coop and divided space in the run. Ducks like a wet environment and chickens prefer a dry environment. It really depends on the ducks and the chickens If they will get along - mine do not.. If you already have chickens, you would have to consider integration issues. Then of course there is always the chance that you will get a drake. A drake can be detrimental to a chicken hen if it tries to mate it.
I would definitely research all aspects of owning ducks before you take the plunge.
Also, if you are thinking of getting a prefab, I don't believe there is any prefab suitable for the two types of poultry to co-habitate.

Just stopping by to say hello! :frow Welcome to BYC! I hope you enjoy it here as much as we do!

How big is the inside of the coop and how big is the run. Drakes are very nasty during the mating season, which can start in very early spring and go till July, they will bully the crap out of your chickens unless you win the lottery and get a nice one. Muscovy drakes are a lot more toned down when it comes to the whole hormone filled mating season stuff because they are from a different genus and are genetically different from Mallard derived ducks.

I a not intending on getting drakes- but if I do I will separate them. Do female ducks get along with hens?

I have never had a female duck, also called hens, be mean to any of the chickens. The hens do get a little weird during the mating season though, I have seen them mounting each other. Mallard derived ducks have tons of sexual hormones...
