Ducks and chickens

Sometimes it works out fine. Other times drakes (especially if raised with and imprinted on) may start breeding the chicken hens. This can cause problems/deaths as drakes have penises and roosters do not. Have a 'Plan B' in mind just in case problems arise.

We had a drake that started breeding the chickens after that we sold him.
Thank you!

Lots of people keep ducks and chickens together without issues. Some people have the problem that Sourland mentioned if they have drakes.

One possible issue is that ducks need water to clean their nares and love swimming in water. Ducks can create a lot of wet in a run. Chickens do not do well in wet, a wet run can be unhealthy for them. If you can keep the coop and portions of the run dry it should not be a problem. Each of us have different conditions so we can get different results.
