We have ducks 2 hens and a drake, we are leaving the eggs in the nest in hopes They will start setting, is this how it is done?

What breed(s) are they? Some breeds never go broody. But yes, leave the eggs and wait. How long have the eggs been in the nest?

X2 We had pekins and muscovies. The pekins would set for a few days, maybe up to a week and then they would leave the nest and that was the end of that. We finally learned if we wanted baby pekins to slip the eggs into the Muscovy nests. Later on people told us the only way to hatch pekins was using another bird or incubator hatched.

You can place fake eggs in to tempt them to set and still gather the eggs they lay right now. It can take awhile if they even decide to set. Here we gather all the eggs leaving fake eggs. Once they start to sit we leave them for a week to make sure they are going to stay broody then replace the eggs under them.
