Ducks new to me

While it's true that your ratio of males to females isn't ideal, I like your wait-and-see approach. Quite accidentally, three of my first four runner ducklings were boys.

As they grew their drake feathers, I worried for the safety and health of the lone girl. As soon as I could, I got another female to take the pressure off Quinn. I was completely surprised that she seemed jealous of the new girl and would often try to interrupt if one of the boys spent too much time with it.

Probably because the boys all grew up together, there was very little squabbling among themselves either. Maybe I was just lucky; maybe you will be, too.

The waterfall duck pond idea sounds cool, and I will never discourage anyone from adding chickens and goats!

Welcome to BYC! If you ever have any questions about raising ducks, send me a message! I raise call ducks and show them. An important tip is to make sure to feed ducks a feed that has niacin in it. Try to find duck-specific feed. Without niacin, ducks can get very sick and possibly die. Also, feed lots of cooked peas! They will love you forever!
