Ducks not accepting half grown ducks

Update: my hens have accepted the half grown ducks and seem to be buddies now, but they’ve slowed down on laying eggs

If it's really hot where you are that can slow down and even stop egg laying. Or they may just be taking a break to build back up their calcium levels.

OK, thank you! I’ve been feeding them eggshells every now and then help with that.

When we have laying poultry we should keep some type of calcium out for them all the time during the laying months, Oyster shells is the one most available and used the most. I put it in a bowl not far from their feed so they have good access to it. When they are laying they can use up the calcium their bodies make [the reason for times off of laying to build back the calcium they lost when laying nice hard shell eggs.] We don't want their bodies taking calcium from their bones to make hard-shell eggs.

Hello BYC! So I have three runner ducks and about three months ago I got two black Swedish ducks one of the black Swedish ducks died so I ended up getting a golden 300. They’re both different colors than the three runners I have. They’re getting big so I put them in a cage next to the runners so I could try and get them used to each other. I’ve done this with my other ducks. I’m usually within a week, their best friends. These ducks they’ve been they’ve been in there for three weeks and my runners still hate them. They’re both drakes, but I’ve done the same thing with one of my other drakes and it worked well. I’m really confused. Do I have racist ducks?

Help on how to introduce these guys and get my ducks to stop attacking them would be very appreciated. Thank you!

So if you have yellow duck with black ducks you will absolutely have an issue because animals are 100% racist. And before people come after me hear me out!!! IT’S TOTALLY FOR SURVIVAL! It has nothing To actually do with RACE because race doesn’t even exist in the animal kingdom… they are colorist. Am entire heard of black horses will kill a whole horse that comes and joins them because that one white horse is like a beacon for that heard. It’s like putting a neon sign right in the middle and telling all the predators RIGHT HERE COME HAVE A BUFFET!!! So by giving your black ducks two golden ducklings they will worker pretend they do not exist, which is the kindest thing they can do being domesticated animals that don’t NEED to kill for survival purposes…or in the wild they would KILL those two little golden babies…but don’t have to because they know they are safe…so if you have light colored ducks that’s where they should go…if you do not then I’d rehome them only because they will likely not be welcomed by the rest of the flock because they don’t look like the rest. Does that make sense?? I don’t mean this rudely at all I’m just expecting so many people to come for me because of my answer…

You said they are racists, but then explained why they aren't. Ducks aren't racist at all. Racism is a human social construct. But, birds of a feather flock together and the reasons are as you stated, for survival.
