Ducks not laying

Hello
I have one Pekin drake, one Pekin hen, and four Khaki hens. There were two more that were lost to predators. All are about 18 months old. Until last month they ate chicken layer pellets. I then found a water fowl feed with more protein and have been feeding that.

For a few months in the beginning the produced nicely. Then they stopped and only one has been laying for the past year. The birds are under no apparent stress, have plenty of space (but not free range, too many hawks), and water.

Any ideas why they don’t lay?

They have probably gone through a molt. That coupled with the shortened daylight period has caused them to take a normal break in their laying cycle. As daylight period increases they will start laying again.

Is she starting to lose feathers? She may be molting.

Well, it‘s been a year since the three of them have laid. the fourth hen has laid with regularity almost every day, but its been almost a year for three of them.

They may not be getting the nutrients. Try changing their food for a bit.
