Ducks out in the pen for their first night :(

My babies are outside all alone tonight...I am sad! They are over a month old and its about time we had a nice pen built for them but its hard to leave them out there alone and not worry! They wouldnt go into their wooden house, so I put some treats in there for them and put a piece of plywood in front of the doorway to lock them in for the night. Poor babies..its so dark in there and I hope they don't get stressed out being locked up in there til morning! Haha I think I have a case of empty nest syndrome. I will probably be up at 3 am checking on them!

Haha they will be fine! ducks can see fine in the night, plus they will be together sharing each others body warmth. I wouldn't worry too much, just check on them in the morning!

Awww...hoping their first night outdoors goes well! And FYI, during the first couple of weeks that my ducks went outside, it was pretty normal to find me IN THE COOP with the ducks at 2 am. My parents (who live next door & take their dog out at odd hours to do her business) thought I was off my rocker! So don't feel any weirdness if you're outside stalking them in a few hours with a flashlight in hand conducting a headcount.

Haha thanks, you were right..they were fine. And last night they actually went into their home willingly (or at least more willingly than the night before. I also got them a kiddie pool..at first they flew out of it after I put them in, but now they won't leave it! They were still in it after dark last night when I went to put them in! I spilled a little water on the ground and they started stomping around in the mud..so cute!
