Ducks protecting my Barred Rock?

I have a 6 w/o Barred Rock pullet which has been living with several other juvenile pullets. My boyfriend decided to throw a classic 1/2 dozen "Tractor Supply ducks" (White Peking) into the mix. They all get along but it seems the ducks have adopted my Barred Rock.

Is this normal? It looks absurd, there's this little Barred Rock and then there are 6 ducks sitting around it in a circle like "All Hail!!!" haha

Will this affection/tolerance last to their adulthood, or will they need to be separated?
