Hi, I had 3 ducks and 2 chickens in my pen and yesterday a fox got in and killed one duck and one chicken and bit one of the other ducks. My remaining chicken is fine, albeit a little lonely but the ducks won’t move unless you go near them and aren’t eating or drinking. We’ve never had foxes in 12 years of keeping birds but have now locked them away overnight for safety. We’re reinforcing the fence and getting a motion light to scare any foxes away. Our cats normally keep the birds safe but they were both inside that night.
I’m really worried about them not drinking as it’s really warm right now.
The one who got bitten is limping but the wound is healed and clean and she’s not swollen or anything.
The other one keeps doing a weird bobbing with her head and body!
Any suggestions to get them to perk up and drink? My daughter is distraught, if the others die she’ll be inconsolable!
help!
