In the Brooder
Hi my name is Susan. I have loved ducks since I was a very little girl. Two years ago my husband surprised me with four ducklings, a heat lamp, a small feeder and a water container. It was a great surprise, but we were knew nothing about raising ducks! I got on the internet and researched and found a world of information, including all the wisdom recorded in the group.
We have five five Pekins and one Crested. Four of the Pekins are drakes! So we have three of them in a separate pen and the hens are with one drake.
I love being able to just watch the ducks play and swim. We are waiting patiently for our Crested Duck’s eggs to start hatching. It is the first time!
We live in Georgia and have two human children. We also have two horses, a dog, six cats and four geckos.
I’ve been reading on BYC since we first got our ducks, you were very helpful through raising our ducklings, bumble foot, and other duck injuries such as an over zealous drake. Now I’m looking forward to reading about how to care for the impending arrivals.
Thank you for all you have done for us so far! I’m looking forward to learning more and maybe even helping someone else.
