Guy, Ar...out in the sticks!
I bought 8 ducklings locally...and a dozen fertile eggs.. my old incubator wouldn't get above 80F much...soooo I bought a new Little Giant 11300 with turner at the feed store..
I found a lady that sold Ducks and fertile Duck eggs fairly local. Nice lady..decent prices. Bought 8 Ducklings..and a dozen eggs. Nice big Duck eggs. Two of the dozen eggs were *huge*...like Goose eggs.I knew the duck eggs were stretching the holding abilities of my Little Giant auto turner ...but after stacking them like in this picture...they are quite happy tilting one way and then back for close to 24 hours now. Even the "normal" sized duck eggs are kinda big for the turner.
I broke down and just bought the Little Giant incubator b-cuz the big sportsman clone cabinet incubator I built wouldn't go over 80 degrees.. Thinking the wetness/humidity from the mushroom growing in the same room earned me a corroded connection on the heater. It's a little big for just a dozen eggs anywayz..
I like those messy little fuzzy-poop-quack butts.
But I read here and there that the auto turner from Lil Giant wouldn't hold the big duck eggs...or the huge duck eggs for sure..BUT...I arranged the eggs like the pic shows and they are turning auto for a day without mishap...yay me!
The smaller duck eggs in the pic are like extra-jumbo chicken eggs...the big ones in the middle are big...really big. But just sitting in it's spot like they should. Gonna unless we have an earthquake here those will ride nice for 24 more days till lockdown..
And yeah...this ol man is back in the "fowl business"...if they hatch ok..

How're the eggs looking so far??
well...the big!!! ones were double yolkers..not much chance of successful hatch in those :/ And after candling yesterday at 14 days...I'm down to 7 fertile and growing. Not too bad for just plain ol barnyard run eggs. The other non-fertile eggs ...besides the double yolkers...were just that ...infertile. I did kick myself for not candling *all* of the eggs, especially the huge ones before I put them in the incubator. Those I could have eaten. I asked for unwashed, never refrigerated fertile eggs.. the nice lady did the best she could. At $5 a dozen...I may have to go back for more. But thinking I need some runner ducks.

Well, I'm glad to hear you've got 7 right now!
