ducky just hatched

I bought a dozen fertilized chicken eggs for my broody cochin hen. she discarded two of the eggs. on day 25 she hatched a little chick, on day 27 she hatched a duckling. We are waiting to see what else she hatches. Is there anything special I need to do for the duckling. I have chickens, NOT ducks. the hen is very protective of her babies.

Congrats on the hatch! Make sure you feed the duckling NON-medicated chick starter and make sure it has a water bowl it can get it's head into. And an endless supply of water! They need to wash down their food, they like playing with water, basically they just love water. For more on duckling care see here:

Thank you. My daughter has already fallen in love and I want to help it survive if possible. I will buy the non medicated food. I have removed all pans of water due to the chickies, but will find one safe for all. Thank you again
