Dumb fox cub tried to eat terrier...now dead (pic)

Never had any trouble with foxes & chickens, but last night a little fox cub tried to eat my 8-llb Silky terrier. So I pick my little dog up and get control of my Jack Russell's leash thinking that the fox would leave, what with my yelling and my husband coming up with a club...but no, the fox tries to attack me in my bare feet with the terrier in my arms, so I let go of the Jack's lead and in no time the fox's neck was broken.

Wow. I think it might be a good idea to have the fox necropsied for rabies. It sounds like it was acting really crazy. I hope your dogs are vaccinated and that you wore gloves handling any bites/wounds they might have had.

For testing, I believe they need the brain intact. Better call around and find out where to take it, before it starts to rot.

that doesn't sound normal. have you sent the fox's body to a vet to have examined for rabies? it doesn't need to have been foaming at the mouth to have it.

Yes, we're all up to date on rabies. Good idea about the testing, though.

We have had rabid animals in our general area this year. Please do have the animal tested!

UP here in mid ga we have rabid fox and coon. Bad deal. That one was nuts.
