Hi guys

I'm wondering...if a female duck has a drake then are the eggs she lays fertile all year round or only in breeding season? I mean, I know when hens, if there's a rooster there's an assumption the eggs are all fertile so is it the same for ducks?

Hi Postalpoultry. Thanks for your quick answer. You're right about randy drakes. I had a Pekin drake once which I bought as a companion (not knowing it was a boy) for my brown hen. He was rehomed when he wouldn't stop molesting her. It was like one day they were best buddies and the next BAM! Duck puberty hit and he just couldn't leave her alone

Most ducks are seasonal layers, honestly i wouldn't assume that... i would say the majority are but i can tell you this, drakes maybe um, intense but in the winter my boys are not breeding anyone... to darn cold, so in Jan when the girls resumed laying it was unlikely they were fertile at that timing.
