DuMor or Purina Feed??

I personally use Purina. I once compared Dumor and Purina chick feeds and they were almost identical. When I was younger I had been feeding these chicks Dumor for a 4H thing and the 4H lady flipped out on me for using Dumor-she told me it was crap. I don't think it is, but I'm not a feed expert. At my current feed store, they only sell purina chicken feed. I have always been pleased with Purina...my chickens always grow up to be healthy, successful layers(well the hens anyways

I`m taking the 60 day challange from purina to see if my chickens will look any differant.I have noticed that there poop does not have so much amonia in it.Will see when the 60 days are up,I`m suppose to get cupons for doing this but so far nothing.

When I feed dumor my chickens have the smelliest poop - ever. When I feed purina, they have green colored poop.

I buy my feed from a local co-op, which buys from a feed mill about 50 miles north of where I live. Their poop is normal.

I have used Dumor chick started before. It was ok. I thought it had a good smell to it. I use purina chick starter now and Manna Pro Egg Maker pellets. I did get the coupons from Purina though so my next pellets will be their brand.

I could have sworn they were both Purina Mills brands. I work at TSC and read that somewhere. Dumor is just a sub company of Purina.

Personally, I got with Dumor because it tends to be cheaper.

DuMor is PURINA!!!!!! Packed for TSC at a Purina plant. Think Craftsman tools or Kenmore appliances at Sears.

The formula is not identical, but for all intents and purposes, the same product. DuMor is fine, but with costs going out of sight, I also scour other feed stores and check their prices too. Our hens do not care one iota which pellets they get; Purina, DuMor, Southern States or Armada.

I order the organic feed from Azure Standard along with organic grains that I use for their scratch. The price difference is 19.85 organic vs 15.99 for Layena. The shipping costs me 8.5% which is what sales tax ran me before I got my Tax exempt status. My older girls do not like Dumor, I just raked up the pellets from the ground that they were trying to convince me had been eaten. Once the last bag of Dumor is gone, it will be organic. I am so glad to have found a feed that is GMO free. If I felt I could afford it, I would try the organic corn and soy free food, but at nearly $30 per 50lbs, I can't feed it to 40 chickens on my budget. Azure Standard serves 20 western states including TX. Folks that live off their trucking routes can use UPS, but I was thrilled when TX was added this last Jan. West TX other than Amarillo is out of luck, basically it is the 287S to San Antonio crossing to Houston and 35 N back to Kansas.
