Dumped New Hampshire rooster?

I agree. My household has ended up with dumped dogs and cats for years because we live on a country road that's close enough to town. And obviously I don't have him yet but ummm would folks think I'm a bad person if I already thought of that?

So I found where he was roosting and came back later when it was dark, but didn't bring a net. He was just beyond my reach and took off right before I got him. I looked all around there and couldn't find him. Hopefully he's still there today. He's huge, almost looks like some kind of red broiler but how well do they fly?

Probably a New Hampshire. I can't imagine a red ranger, which is more a meat variety, could fly up that high.

I applaud you trying to rescue him. People that just dump animals really suck!

I agree with you. I know New Hampshires get big also, but it made me think when I got up close and saw how massive he was.

Chickens can do surprising things, so it is always a possibility.

I had 2 roosters dumped on me before. At different times.

I want to see if he's in good shape first, then see what kind of temperament he has. I've got an EE rooster now that's been separate for a while due to butthead behavior (and he let the girls pluck his entire beard out) so I'd give him a chance.

Nope! It would be a kinder death then what happens in nature. You'll get him nice healthy and fat, before he has one bad day.
