I bought H2O soluable duramycin to treat some hens w/ snotty beaks. Its all TS had. The packet tells you how much each 6.4 oz packet makes (i.e 800mg in 12.5 gals water). What dose do I need to be mixing for my chix in a 1 gal waterer? What should the conc. of antibiotic be in 1 gal water? The woman at the TS told me 1 tsp per gallon, but didn't tell me if that was 30mg, 50 mg etc. Any help is much appreciated. Thanks!

I have the Duramycin 10 (10g of tetracyline) that i am giving one of my hens. I just got an email from the chicken doctor today after I asked him and he said one heaping tablespoon in a gallon of water. My gal has similar symptoms. It probably also depends on the weight of your chicken. How old is it/normal weight?

I just searched this for help. Thanks! I'm no math whiz.

I started by measuring with a tablespoon, and the bag of 6.4 oz has 19 tablespoons. So, I called my mama, and she has it figured that 1 tablespoon per gallon should be about right. That would be 19 gallons that the bag would make which is probably around 600 mg of medicine in the water.

Im glad I found this thread because this is exactly what I was asking-can I ask why your treating with this? I have a few chickens that are sneezing and 1 is kinda girgling--no runy noses or eye gunk-eating normally drinking normally laying eggs etc...But Im leaving for a week and want to treat to cover my butt before I go...So Im going to treat all of them 45 of them-to make sure it isnt spreading-I have had nothing but rain rain rain for weeks and Im sure this did not help! SO Im sending all day cleaning out coops and putting in all new bedding and DE mix uuughhhh!!
