Duramycin

I picked some up for one of my chickens as recommend from BYC. How do some of you mix this stuff up?

I've found varying dosages for the Duramycin. I think that the correct dosage is 1/2 tablespoon per gallon of water, but some sources have said that it is 1 tbsp per gallon.

I should of ask this before but since this is an antibiotic are her eggs safe to eat or should I pitch them?

There are 2 types of Duramycin--there is the oxytetracycline and the tetracycline which is Duramycin10. Follow the mixing instructions on the label. With the D10 there are 2 strengths--the 400mg mix (1/2 TB per gallon) and the 800mg (1TB per gallon) mix which depends on how bad of an infection your are treating. Egg withdrawal is 21 days.

Ok I called the manufacture & they gave me the info I needed.
I Tablespoon per gallon of water.
Keep them on it for 7 to 14 days or if she is feeling better before it's ok to take them off of it.
This has not been tested on egg layers just broilers so they don't recommend it for egg layers. The reason they don't know how long the penicillin is in the egg. Rumor has it maybe 21 days.
