the ground on which my run is built is starting to get hard because of all chickens always on it applying all that pressure..they dont really have a place to dust bath. Are their any alternate options for them to dust bath? Or will they just find a spot to dig up the soil and loosen it up? Thanks!

When my soil gets compacted I loosen a spot of it up with a shovel or sledge hammer. They'll take care of the rest and create the dust bowl.
They just need help getting the soil started.

Because my run is elevaded above ground I have a big tote box filled ( 2 - 50 lb bags) with play sand.

Good luck.

If you are right on the ground, they will be able to break up the soil and dust bath as they are good diggers. I break mine up with a shovel and move it all around once a month.
