Bad pic of a welsummer chick lying on a pipping egg.
She is in a GQF hatcher with the big egg holders for EMUs but I cut out the middle dividers so the fence just goes all the way around.

Wow. 11 of the 16 welsummer eggs have hatched. I started with 18 eggs but 2 had to be tossed for weeping.
only 5 of the barnevelder eggs have hatched out of 27. I have the rest still in the incubator but there have been no pips so I'm starting to think on day 22 that they are no interested in hatching.
will post pics this morning.

Babies are out of the hatcher. I have 11 out of 16 welsummers hatched, amazing!
and only 5 of the barnevelders.

Here are some of the Welsummers.

Thanks. I'm having trouble telling them apart. They both have chipmunk backs and some similar markings at this point. I tried to keep them separate, but I know there are two wellies in with the barnies. luckily they will look different soon.

I have one little girl with spraddle leg and curly toes. She had a hard time getting out of the egg with a late last night hatch. She got a little stuck, so I helped her. But she had been stuck long enough to not be walking great. I made her a little splint and foot glove. So far she is just lying there and complaining.
