We got our chicks yesterday (56 of them) and they all looked awesome up until we just went out to check them this evening. One walks and then falls over and ends up on its back and kicks and twitches and chirps like its stuck. If I pick it up it falls back over....but after a minute it gets up on its on and walks away like nothing happened(usually when the others start pecking at it) Then starts all over again. Is it dying?? Do we bring it inside? I doubt that it makes a difference, but it's a black australop. Thanks for any suggestions :)

It may not have gotten all of it's yoke for needed vitamins. I think you can save it if, you bring it in where it is warm about 90 degs F, cook a egg mashed up with a little sugar water and if you have children's poly-vi-sol vitamins you could give it a drop or two. You may also need to dip it's beak in water as it may be dehydrated. You need to act fast to save it. Good Luck.

We did the sugar water last time we were out there and dipped her beak to make sure she drank. We just checked on them again and she's fine now. Running around like all the others and not falling over. Maybe it just needed a little sugar pick me up!! We will keep checking on them and try the egg if she starts looking bad again.

Great advice!

Glad to hear it is doing better.
