When I used it to dye fiber, I used the unsweetened kind.I'd be worried all that sweetness and artificial flavor would make those feathers attractive to other birds
I also used chemical dyes, and had a special enamel-on-steel canner that I used for dyeing. I'd used it several times with the fiber dyes, then tried a half-pot batch of Kool-Aid. The pot surface was forever roughed up, like etched glass, to that level.
