We left Friday for the beach. Both of our hens were sitting on 7 eggs, suppose to hatch this weekend and we came home today and have one chic , one hen sitting on 6 eggs, one hen walking around with a chic. She keeps laying on the chic. Will this hurt the baby chic??

Nope, this is what mother hens have been doing for eons. She squats down and covers her chick to provide warmth. You got lucky. Very frequently when sharing a nest all hens will leave with the first chicks that hatch. As result the remaining eggs die.
