Hi Guys,
I have a whole bunch of of chicks running around my house and yard right now and all are raised by my 2 Silkie hens.
The first bunch (BCM and Olive Eggers) are 4 weeks old now and outside all day. The second bunch (three 6 day-old Hamburgs and five 2 day-old Ameraucanas) are still hanging around indoors with their surrogate mum.
Well, this morning when I opened the front door, the older chicks came sprinting inside from the yard and ran over to the cage to inspect the little guys.
This little Hamburg chick gets out from under Mum, puffs himself up and... CROWS!! All the right body moves and definitely NOT a sound I'd like to hear from a 6 day-old chick!
But on the bright side: No more guesses about the sex
