Early hatch

My friend gave me a dozen Bantam eggs so I dug my Incubator out I've had for ten years and never used and put them in. Now 18 days later I have 6 chicks so far. Isn't that kinda early for them to hatch?

sounds a bit early to me....could your temp have been a little high? i had a hatch of barred and BBS rocks back in June that all hatched on Day 19 and temps were steady the whole time at 99.5 - 99.9. Are they healthy? Eating? Drinking?

I just used the thermometer that came with the incubator and it read 99 the whole time. I never cross checked it with another. They seem healthy and active and are eating and drinking. This is fun!

If they are healthy, just count your blessings. The rest of us have to wait 21 days!!! I have Delawares due next Thursday and I won't even be home....uuuggghhh. Hope my wife can handle it
