I have been interested in getting some east indie ducks some time soon. Does anyone have good experience with them??? I want a duck that will lay lots of oddly colored eggs!!

I have been raising them for a while, much like all the domestic bantam breeds they are easy keepers. Body is more sleek, racy then Calls, a little larger although the push is to get them smaller. Ideal bird has the green sheen feathering with little/no brown or white. As they begin to age, they will get white feathering.

As for eggs, they range from grey color to a dirty dark grey. They are seasonal layers (breeding season). Like Call ducks they are good fliers.

Oh my!! Your ducks are beautiful!! I would love to have some, but, I fear they might fly away or get eaten by my doggies!! What do you guys do?

Oh Giffy,

Your farm is lovely. Why haven't I ever visited your website before?
I love that extended aviary you have. How long is it?

I have them in a large fenced in area without overhead netting. Like Calls, they can fly but if they go over the fence they always look for a way to get back with their buddies. If I have one that seems to have a habit of flying over, I clip the primaries on one wing.
