This is an Easter Egger, about 4-1/2 months old (got her/him March 1st as a day old chick), 90% sexed to be female but there is always a chance it could be a rooster. What do you guys think?

Reason I'm asking is cause I thought it was a girl, 2 of my girls are just starting to lay eggs and this one seems very interested in the nesting box (especially when another hen is in there) and not sure if this bird is just getting the idea of laying or if it's a boy and is getting other ideas,,,,

I am very new to this world, these are our first birds and I'm learning from you guys. So any insight would be helpful.

Actually, I vote hen. Despite the tail feather and the bright red comb, The feathering I see on her is female specific. Males NEVER have a red chest like hers. If it was a rooster it would have a blue or black chest.

Here is what a female based with that pattern would look like (of course yours does not look exactly like this but notice the red chest):

Here is the male pattern (notice the blue chest):

I vote hen too actually. Although I am no expert! But I’ve had hens with a curved tail feather, I don’t see pointed hackle or saddle feathers, the general body shape seems female, and the comb could be just because she’s matured to point of lay. I bet you get eggs really soon, especially if she’s sniffing around the box! Have you seen any squatting or, conversely, mounting or crowing?

I also think it's a boy.my Easter eggers did not lay till theywere nine months old.

Hmmm, I have 2 Easter Eggers and one is definitely laying already. A nice big sky blue egg, have 2 from her and she's in there trying to lay again. Not sure if she's an early girl but she is laying.
