Hello,
I'm really close to getting chicks. One thing I need to decide is what breeds to get. After doing some research with no solid answers, I decided to turn here. I am already getting Easter Eggers, but I want two other breeds that will do well with them. I live in New England so it can get pretty cold, as well as hot. My purpose for keeping chickens is for eggs AND pets. I'm also planning on getting four chicks in total. Does anyone have any suggestions?

Buff orpingtons!!! Or any orpington but i think the buffs are pretty. I have buffs and now Easter eggers they are great pets, the buffs, friendly, and they lay lots of beautiful beige pinkish eggs

I want a buff Orp! The person I ordered chicks from didn’t have any though:(

Aww too bad I love them, you can see mine on YouTube, I got mine from a feed store called cal ranch
Don't know if they are where you are at I also got some at Tsc but I don't recommend them to get chickens at too many mistakes and poor breeding imo

I am also in New England. I have a number of different breeds, along with my EE. See below. The smaller the comb, in the cold, the better for them. So, wyandottes, buckeyes, brahmas... But at the same time my barred rock did well, as did my Speckled Sussex and black jersey giant...
I used this to help me decide what to avoid...

I believe I had one when I first started with chickens from Big R but it soon passed away:(
