Out of the 4 EE pullets I received only 1 of them hasn't had a medical needs - they are only 5 weeks old!!! Is there something about this breed OR maybe just the genetics of the 4 that I received?!?!?! Two have wry neck (one BAD); 1 has her middle toes pointed inward; and I think the pointed toe guy was the one who came to me with a crusted over eye (totally healed now!!).

What's wrong with Easter Eggers??????????

Thanks

Gosh, I can't imagine. I ordered 5 EEs, along with Buff Orps, GL Wyandottes and Red Sex Links. The only chicks I have had no problems with at all are the EEs. Hatch related issues maybe? Did you order them from a hatchery, a breeder, or pick them up at a farm store? Wish I had an answer for you.

Who (hatchery) did you order from?

Unfortunately, I got them for a gift from someone who got them from Craigslist. Supposedly the guy who sold them got them from some hatchery but not sure where!

Just wondering, about three years ago I got some from a major hatchery and they all started having leg problems and dying after about 3 to 4 days.

Sounds like its something to do with the breeder as these things are often passed through genetics. Some are more immune to these things than others due to there parents. I don't know much about this breed. Hope you aren't faced with any more problems.
