Hi Folks, I'm after some advice please.

I have 7x 2-week old chicks hatched from bought Easter Egger eggs & happily co-parented by 2 d'Uccle broodies.

The father is an Australian Araucana roo (pure white from 2 lavender parents).

3 of the chicks hatched from Cuckoo Marans eggs. Given barring genetics (solid coloured roo over barred hen = barring passed onto males only) I was pleased on hatching none of the chicks had white head spots as I'm in the burbs and can't keep roosters. Next day I noticed one had a faint grey smudge on its head, and now at two weeks I'm starting to see stripes on the wings.

Here's siblings and Mummas

What are opinions on whether this is a roo? Happy to wait and see, just curious about the genetics.

Thanks!

If you have a solid colored roo over a barred hen, then those are cockerels. Absolutely no doubts. I'm not sure about that 'smudge', usually its a well defined dot... So I'd give it a tiny bit more time to make sure. If their barred though, their male.
