Hi friends, I am new to raising chicks, only ever gotten hens, and this is my first round of raising chicks. We got them from a nice little farm near us and the farmer said that they were easter Eggers and about 3 weeks old but I know thats not really a breed just a trait so what breed do you think these little gals are. Also speaking of gals I think two of the three chicks are pullets and one might be a cockerel, he/she is developing a comb way sooner then the other two and seems a little more bold then the other two. We also got two splash ameraucanas but they're only a week old so I doubt we can sex them.

Easter Egger is a breed, not solely a trait. I have some of my own, they're an amazing, friendly breed. They're too young to tell from pictures but as you have been doing, watch behavior. In the next week or so it will become obvious to you if you've spent a lot of time with them, based on behavior. At least, that's how it is with me.

They are Easter Eggers.

Easter egger is not just a trait, and also not a breed.

It is a name for mixed breed chickens with a chance to lay colored eggs.
