I bought two Americanas -- in other words, Hoover Hatchery Easter Eggers -- in the spring, and while they are beautiful girls, I was disappointed that they weren't laying yet.

However, last week, Evie produced her first egg -- a perfectly formed almost-pinkish cream egg. I was, of course, hoping for green or blue.

Yesterday, her sibling, Audrey, was squatting in the nest box. I went out and found ... nothing. I went out later and found another pinkish cream egg -- beside the most gorgeous green egg ever!

I am so proud of my little girls!! I m now hoping that my "rare assorted breed" free pullet from Hoover's grows up to be a blue layer. Never happy enough, am I?

Thanks. I don't have pictures, but need to work on that.

Since my Sapphire Gems (large brownish eggs), one of my Buckeyes (dark brown eggs) and my Midnight Majesty Maran (deep, deep brown) are laying, the addition of the EE's production makes some lovely egg collections.
