Hello everyone. My names Ryan, I live in eastern Pa. I am a new chicken owner as of Fathers Day. I totally love my new babies. My neighbor has about 20 chickens and 2 roosters. The wife and I have been thinking about getting chicks for a little over a year and she suprised me with 4 chicks this past weekend. I have read so much about them being adictive and never really believed it. I know now how truely adictive they are. This coming weekend we are probably getting 4 more chicks and a stack of wood to finish building our coop. Any hints or tips would be awsome. Thanks everyone and Happy Fathers Day.

! Great to have you with us! My only advice on the coop is as follows: make it larger than you think you need in case you want to add birds (and you will!!) later. The recommended size for the coop is 4 sq. ft. per bird (run size should allow 10 sq. ft. per bird). Also use hardware cloth instead of chicken wire as chicken wire does little to keep out determined predators. Also, make the roosts higher than the nest boxes so they don't roost and poop in the nests. Good luck to you and have fun!!
