Hi my name is Erika and I bought some chicks before Easter because I thought my grand daughters would like to see them. My son said no because of the salmonella possibility. Maybe once they are a bit older. They are babies still. Sorry I write with a flight of ideas.

I have always wanted to have a mini farm but alas that never happened because of my busy schedule. So here we go…
I have a random mix of chickens; 2 Isa brown hens, a bantam rooster and two Silkies, one hen and a roo.

I am excited because the Browns: Ginger and Marianne should be laying in August. So far I have had success with chicken raising because I read ridiculous amounts of information about them. I never thought that I would enjoy them so much.

My bantam roo Chicken little could be a therapy chicken if there is such a thing. He loves people and being held. He closes his eyes when hugged. It’s so sweet.

So there you have it. Erika on the Eastern Shore of Maryland close to the beach. We like chicken 🐓 and crabs 🦀 here.

Hiya, Erika, and welcome to BYC! :frow

I have people coming into my home weekly to purchase chicks, and I'm a germophobe about it. Especially the ones that bring their children. I have bottles of germicide spray that kills 99.9% of germs. Anyone who comes in here, I have them hold out their hands and I spray them. I do not want their germs on my chicks. You could get some and spray their hands before and after they hold your chicks.
