Eastern Shore of Maryland
All three of my bantam cochin chicks have turned out to be roosters. They were hatched mid-April. All three are crowing, but only one, the black one in the back of the picture below, is showing affection to the hens (Just now learning the dance!). I am worried about the neighbors, as the roosters crow for about an hour starting at 4:45am, but the cockledoodledooing is fairly quiet and mostly only in the morning. I would like to find homes for two of them. Anyone on the eastern shore with some space willing to give one of these lovebugs a home? I am located in middle- eastern shore of maryland.

Did you find a home for your cochins? They are so awesome! I don't have availability for them as I have 4 roos myself. Two are blue bantem cochins and they are the sweetest of my roos. My neighbors don't seem to mind the crowing at all. Thank goodness because I'm very attached to all my feathered friends.

So sad that no one wants roos. I sadly am trying to rehome 2 of my 4 as well because I have just 4 hens. They will be miserable if not dead with 4 roos after them all day. I'm on the eastern shore too so I guess the odds aren't good. Good luck with your awesome boys...I'd be interested in how the hens fair if you can't find a home for your roos.

Well, if I can't get a home for them (and I'll give them one more month) the boys will be sent to freezer camp. I wish there was an alternative! I posted flyers, posted on craigslist, asked at the humane society, the vet, and the farm store.... Never again will I buy day old bantams! This just makes me feel miserable! Good luck with your two boys, and let me know if you hear of anyone wanting roos!

There is an auction near Dover. Dills auction. It's every week I think and I've been told there are plenty of chickens up for auction there. That is an option as opposed to freezer camp if you are interested. Just a thought since you're on the shore. I'm not sure how close you are. It's actually a bit south west of Dover.
