Earlier this summer there were 2 EWT poults and what was called a domestic turkey poult at the farm supply around the corner. Well the domestic white was not a turkey, unless turkeys come with combs. One poult 'disappeared' as happens with free range birds. The other and the chick were happily raised up by their adopted mother and are now about 10 week old. The poult and the little white chick (most likely a leghorn) are best buds. I LOVE the sound the turkey makes. We have named her Whistler (at least we think its a she). For now she is very happy with the chicken flock, but we'll see if she sticks around when the wild flock in our woods starts mating in the spring. In the meantime we are enjoying her immensely. Just though I'd share.

A portion of the flock...finding Whistler can be like playing where's waldo sometimes.

That pink head and those black tips on your she turkey sure do have me thinking it's a he. An EW hen at that age has a very distinct blue/gray head.
