Easy to get Free vegies and fruit treats!!!

I just talked to the produce lady at the little grocery store down the road. She is gonna save some of the fruits and vegies to be discarded for my chickens. She said she would rather do that then just toss them.

I wish Wal-Mart would do that! I merchandise magazines and I've been in the back and seen them throw tons of stuff away. They won't give it away though. Just before Thanksgiving they threw away about 50 pansy plants that I would have loved to have.

My experience that many stores won't allow you to take the produce trimmings due to legal liability issues for the store.

Way back when when I worked in a produce dept, we had multiple large boxes of trimming created each day. Had a little old farmer guy come by at 10:30 every morning for his "chicken feed". The store stopped the practice due to some health dept regulation.
