My Birds have a habit of stealing the Dogs food,I was wanting to make sure that was ok and wouldnt cause any health issues. They are Siapans ,almost 7 months old, gang up and run the him off of his food if I feed Bear during the day, I can feed the him at night but is always just a bit left over.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

This is probably the 3rd time I've said it on a thread like this (search function people). Most dog food is better for chickens than it is for dogs. If you buy it in a grocery store and most foods at feed stores your chickens are probably getting better nutrition from it than your dogs. If you do buy more premium foods it still is nothing but helpful to the chickens since animal protein is good for them.

Bin feeders are not a good idea for dogs and cats. First off the food loses nutritional value quickly when left to sit open to air. Think about a box of cereal left open and how quickly it goes stale. You wouldn't want to eat that. Second most dogs should be fed meals not free choice. They should have a controlled amount daily since majority (not all but most) will over eat.

Hey, i'm nobody, but why does someone have to search if they dont have the time, or they have been reading on here for days and maybe just maybe they did but couldn't find what they wanted. i've searched and searched but sometimes i just cant find what i want. Yes i know im an idiot, but i get tried of people telling other people to search for stuff.

Personally, I haven't had much success with the search feature. What topic hasn't been covered here in the past? I guess everybody should stop posting and just use the search feature lol.

when we make our feed we put some dog food in it to get the protein up a little. Not alot though we probally use about a 50lb bag for about 10 100 lb bag of feed

Dog food is just fine for chickens...they will eat almost anything. I do think there is a post out there somewhere with a list of things chickens should and should not eat. But like someone else said, it is often hard to find things on the search function.

When the same topic gets repeated every week or 2 with the exact same question eventually people stop answering. As you'll notice there wasn't too many responses here at first. The first thread I saw on this had a several page discussion. The next maybe a page. The last 5 or 6 people making comments. Slowly it goes down. The more times a topic gets a new thread the less information gets passed around. If you do a search you'll find all that information from previous discussions plus you'll keep topics from getting old so when someone does have trouble finding it they will still get responses. Everyone benefits from you doing a little work yourself and there will be one more person who can answer questions instead of asking them. I was on a smaller forum once where it got to the point only a few people were doing the research and answering the questions and the rest were being too lazy to even look down the first page and see if their question had been asked or even at sticky threads to see if the information was there. Eventually the handful of people answering posts instead of asking put everything into notepad documents so they could copy and paste which led to less specific answers to problems and no discussion on anything. Finally it was made bannable if you did not attempt to use the search function after repeated warnings. It really can cause problems if no one ever attempts to look anything up for themselves. Larger forums it's less noticeable and people just end up getting less information but on smaller forums they can actually stagnate and die just as much from repeat topics as no topics. It helps both yourself and others to at least attempt to do your own research. The more you try to search the better you get at typing the right things into search engines to find what you want and the more you can learn all the quicker. Particularly useful when you have an emergency at 3 am and no one is on the forum or chat.
