eating eggs

is it normal when i dont have time to run out and check for eggs that they get eaten. One day i will get 5 eggs from 6 hens and others i will get 2 but see big wet spots. So do they eat tem if they sit for to long????????jim

No it is not normal. It is called egg eating and should be stopped ASAP. You can try:
Fake eggs in the nests
Darkening the nests
Collecting frequently
Rearranging the coop
Filling eggs with mustard, horseradish, soap

some people recommend culling
