I’m pretty sure I know the answer to this, but… roo or hen? They are both 12 weeks old. We’re not allowed a roo in town, so I’m trying to figure it out as early as possible. I also don’t want to ship off a hen thinking it’s a roo!

The white is Easter. He/She always let us pick him/her up as a chick without being too skittish. Definitely the boss, occasionally pecking the others. Very pronounced mohawk-style comb. Hasn’t crowed yet.

The brown is Cluck. He/She always ran away as a chick when we tried to pick him/her up. Sometimes pecks at the 8 week olds, but otherwise is second fiddle to Easter. Hasn’t crowed.

Thank you!

Second ones a pullet. I think the first one is cockerel, not 100% sure

1st y'all need to stop getting straight run when you are not allowed to have roos I think it's so sad to y'all's roos that y'all rehome

2nd almost 100% sure 1 is a roo and 2 is a pullet

I'm not sure about this specific case, but I see plenty of stories that begin "these were labeled pullets in the store but..." (and then half or all the chicks are male.)
My uncle got 10 Longhorns 2 died at the beginning they were labeled pullets now he has 3 leghorn roos and 5 pullets

Yep. Happens all the time. Just like when someone buys labeled Barred Rocks and they turn out to be SL Wyandottes. Or turkeys.
